History
of IT are consists of 4 ages which are Pre-mechanical, Mechanical,
Electromechanical and Electronic (Butler. J.G.1987).

Pre-mechanical
is from 3000 B.C to 1450 A.D. During this time, people used alphabets to
communication that created by Phoenician and added vowels by The Greeks. They
also communicated through speaking and picture drawings. They also had a
writing system that is called “cuniform”. They were able to write in on scratch
marks in wet clay, papyrus plant, barks, leather, etc.
Furthermore, Chinese has
developed how to create paper from rags in 100 A.D. Likewise; they had books
and libraries as permanent storage devices whereby the Greeks bind the fold of
sheet of papyrus into one. At that time, people also had the first numbering
system that was introduced by Egyptian the numbers 1-9 vertical lines. Then,
Hindus in India created nine-digit number system that we are using nowadays and
in 875 A.D the concept of zero was developed. There was also the first
calculator that is called the abacus.
Moreover, during the Mechanical age (1450 – 1840),
Johann Gutenberg Invented the movable metal-type printing process in 1450 whereby it was
the first information explosion. Then, in 1600, William Oughtred was invented
the slide rule. The Pascaline was invented by Blaise Pascal in 1623. After
that, Leibniz's Machine was invented one of the first mechanical computing machines
in 1642.
In addition, there
was also The Electromechanical age (1840-1940). At that
time, it was the beginning of telecommunication. People were invented voltaic
battery, telegraph, Morse code, telephone and radio for communicate with each
other’s. Furthermore, there was electromechanical computing that is called
Herman Hollerith and IBM in 1880.
Lastly, the
electronic age (1940 until present). In 1940s, people were known electronic
vacuum tubes whereby it was first electronic computer.
