IT professionals need interpersonal skills and Adaptability

Adaptability and interpersonal skills are important for an IT professional. first of all, as we know the technology are developed from time to time whereby it will be more and more better. for instance, when i was 7 years old, i used to play marbles, jump rope and many others. however, nowadays, children are able to play games by using phone, computers and many electronic games. so, in this case as IT professional should be flexible adapt themselves to change and develop new technology, so the customers will be happy and satisfied with them.

Furthermore, IT professional is agent of change whereby they are able to change the way we communicate. for instance, as an international students who are far from family, people can see and talk with their family by using Skype, yahoo Messenger and many others. likewise, IT professional also has important role for business nowadays because many people use technology as a media to sell their products. 

Likewise, IT professional need specialized knowledge and long and intensive academic preparation. however, they cannot work alone, they need others to help them. so, they need to interpersonal skills such as personality awareness, communication, conflict management, trust building and collaboration so that they can work more effective and efficient with others.

IT Future Trends in Education

Technology and education are related to each others whereby the technology is able to support teaching and learning process. as student, i can't deny that IT make learning more attractive and interesting. for instance, by using the projector, i can more focus and understand what lecturers explain in class. Furthermore, students can take their lesson or materials by using technology such as power campus, website and many others.

i think the numbers of people who use e-learning will be increased in the future. in fact, some of people have started this learning such as in Harvard University. The objective using eLearning is to make the contents of education available to audiences so that they can find experience courses, public lectures, and other unique examples of learning content on the web easily.  in my opinion, people will learn at home, they do not need to come to class. they can communicate to the lecturer by using video conferencing and others multimedia that can support they communicate from far. 

furthermore, audiences can get the course material through internet such as through video, audio and multimedia. people also can use streaming video in order to record live lectures. Additionally, students also can do the exams, do homework, do assignments and interact with lecturers and their friends inside class and outside class by using additional technology. so the process of teaching and learning will be easier.

Traditional Business & Digital Firm

According to to Anglefire, digital firms is for electronic commerce and electronic business in order to set their internal processes and relationships with customers, suppliers, and other external entities by using Internet technology. Furthermore. there are four principles move to digital firms are supply chain management systems, customer relationship management systems, enterprise systems, and knowledge management systems. the digital firm use technology is because  it  is able to mediate, and streamline its internal and external operations, the firm is more flexible, profitable, competitive, and efficient than a traditional firm.

For instance, the company that got many impacts of digital firm is Cemex. Cemex is sold cement and ready mix concrete products for a long time whereby it is around 98 year. Cemex used to run the business by using telephones in order to communicate with customers, truckers, and dispatchers. they spent a lot of money for it and sometimes the kines were jammed. likewise, Lorenzo Zambrano, who is the grandson of the founder, was built a System for to link Cemex delivery trucks to a Global Positioning System satellite which would assist dispatchers to monitor the location, direction and speed of every vehicle allowing this information to be efficient if there is last minute changes. the result of this is delivery time is much faster rather than by using telephones whereby from three hours to 20 minutes. furthermore, it provides providing them with cost savings on fuel, maintenance and personnel. Cemex also reduce the numbers of trucks to deliver the same amount of cement. they also use satellite communication that is called as CemexNet which electronically links all the firm’s production facilities and coordinates them from a central clearinghouse.additionally, dispatchers are able to know where they should send their products quickly. it shows that, digital firm is more effective and efficient rather than traditional businesses.

Semantic Web

Semantic Web is used to share content beyond the boundaries applications and websites by people. in fact, it has been described in many ways in our life  when we use the Websuch as  as utopic vison, web of data and natural paradigm shift. Furthermore, Web Document is used for create technology stack to support  a "Web of Data"that we find in databases.

Semantic Web can use to create data stores on the web. the purpose of Data web is to make the computers to do more useful work and to develop system that can support communication on the network. people can create vocabularies, and write rules for handling the data.

according to Wikipedia, the main purpose of semantic web is to help the users find, share and combine information easily. likewise, semantic web is a system that make machines more understand and respond to complex human request based on their meaning. for instance, an "understanding" requires that the relevant information sources be semantically structured.

Quantum Computing

According to Wikipedia, quantum computing is to perform operations on data by using computation device that use quantum mechanical phenomena such as superposition and entanglement. furthermore, as stated by Bone. S (n.d.) the computer used to have bit numbers which were 0 and 1. however in quantum computer, it is not only quantum bit, but also qubit. if the processor is able to register through qubits, it will perform calculations by using all the values of the input registers simutaneously. it is called as quantum parallelism.

According to Mike (2009), there are advantages and disadvantages of quantum computing. the advantages of quantum computing are  much powerful, faster, smaller, improvement to science, and can improve on practical personal electronics. on the contrast, the disadvantages of quantum computing are hard to control quantum particles, lots of heat, expensive, difficult to build and not enough is known about quantum mechanics.

Grid computing

Grid computing has used by many organizations like business, university, and many others. actually, it is a form of distributed computing to handle the computer's long running computational tasks. according to BOINC grid computing differs from volunteer computing in several ways which is the computing resources are able to trust such as one can assume that the PCs don't return results that are intentionally wrong, and that they don't falsify credit.furthermore, it does not need for screensaver graphics and client deployment is typically automated.

As stated in Wikipedia, a grid computer is  grid computer is multiple number of same class of computers clustered together. it is able to connect by using  a super fast network and share the devices like disk drives, mass storage, printers and RAM Grid Computing. Grid computing is to reach a common goal and to solve a single task by join the computers that are from multiple administrative domains.

the grid computing is applied for  computationally intensive scientific, mathematical, and academic problems through volunteer computing. likewise, commercial enterprises also use the grid computing  such as drug discovery, economic forecasting, seismic analysis, etc.

Nanotechnology

Hi blogger... i am sorry i could not share anything to for one month. i was busy because i had many assignments that always came after one and another. furthermore, the connection was really bad too... :(

do you hear about nanotechnology before?

according to center responsible nanotechnology (2002), nanotechnology is the engineering of functional system on an atomic and molecular scale. it is also used techniques and tools in order to constructs items from the bottom to up.

furthermore,  based on Wikipedia (2013), scientists currently debate regarding the  future implications of nanotechnology. in this case, there are advantages and disadvantages of nanotechnology. the advantages might be able to make many new materials and devices with huge range of applications like in medicine, electronics, bio-materials, and energy production. however, it can raise other issue such as toxicity and environmental impacts of nano materials.

likewise, as described by the U.S. National Nanotechnology who is Mihail (Mike) Roco, nano technology has  four generation. First generation is for a passive nano-structures to perform one task, second generation is for multitasking such as actuators, drug delivery services and sensors, third generation would interact with thousands component in 2010. lastly, it is expected to be developed.

Reflection on IBM's CEO Study

For CEOs and their organizations, avoiding complexity is not an option,, the choice comes in how they respond to it. Will they allow complexity to become a stifling force that slows responsiveness, overwhelms employees and customers, or threatens profits? (2010 IBM Global CEO Study).

 i agree with the statement above, because CEO cannot avoid the complexity, but the important thing is deal with it. as we know that, complexity involves three aspects which are technological, organizational and societal. so, CEO should know how manage this complexity so that can give benefits to employers, customers as well as the organization.

CEO suppose use complexity to develop their company in order to achieve their goals. furthermore, CEO should know the employers role as well as the employers itself. so, everyone should know what is their responsibility. the reason is everyone knows what the complexity that they are facing, of course, they know the solution that is much better to solve it.

Software Design

software design is to solve a problem and to plan for software solution. In software design, we need to understand usability of software design. Usability is kind of website or software application that use to measure of the interactive user experience associated with a user interface. user interface design is help the users to do their tasks, achieve their goals, easy to learn and also can give satisfaction when the users use it.

an interface usability test by invite the users to participate during testing session. the purpose of this testing is to get to know any difficulties that user face such as confusion, frustration and satisfaction when they use it. so, we are able to see weather our system is successful or not.  Usability depends on the users need to their task and to achieve their objectives. the reason is because we create the system is to use by users.

User Center design need in software or web application because UCD is the one who answer the questions about users, their tasks, goals and approach for employing usability. likewise, they will involve the users in order to develop their Web site so that they can meet the users need. UCD is focus on usability goals, user characteristics, environment, tasks, and workflow in the design of an interface.

 

Facebook is The Best User Center Design

The best user center design is by giving attention for each steps in each the design process in order to fulfill users need, wants, and limitations of end users of a product. There are so many user-center design such as Facebook, twitter, etc.

in my opinion, Facebook is the best user center design.

I think Facebook as the best user center design because it can answer WH questions of the users in order to achieve their goals. there is no something that can make users surprise, it is fulfill the expectation of the users. everyone can access easily to Facebook, although children, adult, etc. likewise, if we observe in Internet cafe, many children come there even they did not learn in the school. they can access into it. 

furthermore, users  are able to understand and do their task easily, because the notification that Facebook has clearly. they just can click the notification whatever they want. In addition, the users also can choose the language that they want in all over the world such as English, France, Japan, Indonesian, etc. In this case, everyone can access to Facebook in all over the world. moreover, users also can read the texts of Facebook clearly, so that they do not face any difficulties to get the information. they also can set the privacy of their Facebook according to their will. for instance, whenever they upload picture in their Facebook, the users can set who can see their picture such as only their friends, themselves, their family, etc.

therefore, i think Facebook is the best user center design...

Information Technology (IT) People vs Computer Science (CS) People

Do you think  “Most CS people laugh at MIS/IT people,”??

in my point of view, i don't think all CS will do this kind of things. as people who have knowledge, they will understand very course have their strength when we compare to other course. the most important thing, CS people and IT people are related to each others. CS people are creating the programs, while IT people are using the programs. 

i can't deny that some of CS people are laughing at IT people. i think the reason is because CS is the mother of computing discipline, every career need their product like software engineering, information system and so on. likewise, some of people think IT is the cheaper course comparing to CS course, especially CS is the most popular course nowadays.

what is your opinion on “MIS/IT people make more money comparing to CS People and manage the CS folks.”

i think i agree with this statement, first, if we observe in any organization, most of any organization has IT Department, not CS Department. i think, most of organization need people IT because they need people to use the program, not to create the program for their company. likewise, IT people also are able to create the program, but is not much as CS people produce.

Additionally, nowadays, people use IT to do business whereby IT helps people to earn more money. IT people can help the company to increase the effectiveness to do the work and getting more money. Furthermore, many IT people have highest position in company such as CEO, manager etc. Therefore, they can manage the CS folks.

Computing Discipline

In computer discipline, there are five major careers that Information Technology (IT) or Computer Science People can choose. the careers are computer science, software engineering, information systems, cognitive science and computer engineering.Of course, each of them has different characteristics..

Let's understand the differences of each of them...

currently, the most popular major is computer science (CS) because it is the mother of computing discipline. almost of computing discipline is related to Computer Science, whereby they need to use what CS people produce. likewise, in CS, people not only understand the theory, but also create and design programmings that use mathematical concepts of computation and information. there are four areas that CS people should understand in their career which are designing and implementing software, devising new ways to use computers,  developing effective ways to solve computing problems, and planning and managing organizational technology infrastructure. 

moreover, software  engineering is focus on develop of software system that is used mathematical concept and computer science. the major activities of this discipline is process oriented activities such as requirements, design, quality assurance, process improvement and project management.

furthermore, Information System (IS) is concerned with the information that use by company, non profit organization and government or any organization by using computer system. Furthermore, it is consists of two types which are operation support system and management support system. the important thing is that IS can support management process in all levels. see in the picture below:

computer engineering is concerned about the design of digital hardware and software systems including communications systems, computers and devices that contain computers. computer engineering people will produce devices such as cell phones, digital audio players, digital video recorders, alarm systems, x-ray machines, and laser surgical tools all require integration of hardware and embedded software.

lastly, cognitive science  is the interdisciplinary scientific study of the mind and the process of it. it is also learnt about intelligence, embracing philosophy, psychology, artificial intelligence, neuroscience, linguistics, and anthropology.

Can i live without Internet???

As a student, beside laptop, I do believe that internet is very important for me. Internet is not only for study, but also to find information, news, and add knowledge. Furthermore, it is also important for communication, especially for those who study abroad. If they call their family by phone, it will be expensive because they have different nations as well as different type of phone’s card. While, communicate through internet is cheaper, faster and easier.

in my university, which is Albukhary International University (AiU), I think if there is not internet, the students might be in trouble. It is because they use social network as media to announce any information like Facebook. So, if we don’t open Facebook in one day, we might be missing some of information. Furthermore, the important thing is internet has important role for my study, because sometimes I can’t find the information that I want in books. So, I need to browse the information. 

Honestly, I can’t imagine myself without internet for a year. I think I will miss many things, because we can find much information through internet easily. Although we can information in books, I think is better through internet in terms of time. It is faster than any sources. However, we need to be careful when we do a research in order to get valid information.

I had experience live without internet for one week and a month. First of all, I felt OK, but after a few days I felt like I lose something. I can’t get in touch with my friends, because most of the time I communicate through internet with them.  So, internet is very important for me, I need it to communicate and also for my study.

                                                 

One Laptop Per One Child. do you agree with it??

Laptop or computer and internet have the important role in society nowadays; they can make money from it by build internet café. People use it not only for communicate, but also for play games online. 

What do you think the idea about one laptop per one child??

Well, i understand that by giving one laptop per one child is able to help them to get to know the technology. While on the other hand, I don't agree with this idea. First of all, I don’t think child really need it, because they might be don’t know how to use it. So, the laptop can broke easily. While, if they are able to use it, they might be use it to play games. Furthermore, it will be difficult for parents to buy one laptop per one child. If they have two children, it is possible OK for them. They can do effort to buy it. However, if they have many children, unfortunately their salary just enough to buy necessary things. I don’t think they can’t buy one laptop for one child. 

On the other hand, I agree if one house has one laptop, especially for those who have children in secondary school or university level. I am sure that laptop is very important and very useful for them in order to help them in their study. For instance, they need laptop to do their assignments and also to browse the information. 

I support Malaysian government to give one laptop per one house for children study in secondary school. Although, it is not for all Malaysian, I really agree with this idea. They just give to family, who has salary RM 3000 below. I think it’s fair enough, because people who have much salary, they are able to buy by themselves.

As we can see nowadays, people are life more easily than before because of technology effect. It is something that is common and related in our life. Firstly, in terms of communication, although we are far from our family and friends, we can still get in touch with them easily and faster, because we are able to use technology as a tool for communication. For instance, we can SMS and call them whenever we want by using phone. Likewise, we are able to get in touch with them by using internet or social network such as Facebook, email, Skype, yahoo and many others. 

Technology has the important role in education as well. They need technology that can help the process of learning easier in order to add and share the knowledge. For example, in class, lecturers need computer, laptop, projector, printer, photocopy machine, internet and many others for education need. 

Furthermore, technology is really affected of business models, commerce and market structure.  Even though, people have long distance, they still can do a business in order to market, promote, sell, and buy their things. Nowadays, many people do business online, whereby they use of the technology such as laptop, internet, social network, and do transaction online. Based on my senior’s experience, she started her business through Facebook and phone. She just uploads the pictures that she wants to sell, put the price and customers choose what they prefer is. Then, she distributes the things through post, fax, etc. They also pay it online. So, distance should not be a problem to do a business today, although from different nations and places.

Likewise, workplace and labour market also get affected by the technology in terms of communication and how to do work. For instance, in my university that is Albukhary International University (AiU), staff and lecturers are most of the time using email to communicate with each other’s in order to share news, announcements and also teaching information.

Moreover, I have observed the effect of technology in my society where I live in. Actually, so many things are affected by it, because technology is developed day by day. For instance, almost every house has phone to communicate, might be in one house each family member has one phone, sometimes it can be more than that. I think, it will be difficult to find people who don’t have a phone. 

Likewise, PlayStation is a popular game that gives effect to adult and children as well. Children who are 5 years old also be able to play that game.
